Primary Asphalt mix plant functions
Raw Material storage and feeding
Stones and sand of different sizes are stored in bins. They are fed into the plant in the correct quantity by a feeder system. This would guarantee the constant supply of materials.
Aggregate Drying and Heating.
The stones can be wet, and this decreases bonding. One drying drum contains a burner that eliminates moisture and heats it. The asphalt is tough and hard with the help of heat aggregates.
Screening and Separation
Aggregates are separated into different sizes on a vibrating screen. These are stored in hot bins and then mixed. This renders the mix correct and of good grade.
Weighing and Proportioning
Aggregate, bitumen and filler (such as stone dust or lime) are weighed in the correct proportions. Proper balance is provided by automated systems. This maintains the quality of asphalt.
Mixing of Materials
The mixing in batch plants occurs in batches. In drum plants, mixing takes place continuously. Asphalt is a homogenized mixture of aggregates, filler, and bitumen.
Bitumen Heating and Storage
